My daughter is 12 months, she weighs 22 pounds. Does anyone have any idea of how much a child this age is "supposed" to weigh?

When I asked the pediatrician he simply responded by saying a child can never be too big, which I know is a bunch of bull.

in the sources find the link to the growth chart

dont put too much stock in that stuff as long as she looks healthy and is learning and doing more...then dont put too much stock in what doctors say on the matter...they just like fat babies.

My neice is 9 months old and weights 21 lbs. It really varies from baby to baby. So your daughter is in the norm weight range, but ask your doctor. Don't worry if you think shes a little over weight, once they start walking they usually lose the pounds and lean out.

HAHAHAHA.......no really normal weight per age its usually weight per height, my daughter is 2 and weighs about 22 lbs, then again I only weighed 25 when i started kindergarten, and I have a nephew who is 2 1/2 and weighs 32 lbs, so it just depends on genetics............

I'm not sure, but my daughter is 5 months old & weighs about 16 lbs. I think 22lbs is normal for a 1 year old.

That is the exact weight my perfect healthy now 13 year old was on her 1 st birthday. I believe that puts her at about the 50 percentile for girls which is exactly right. As long as she eats healthy foods and gets plenty of play time she will be fine.

my 8 month old son is 19lb 4oz but at 1 years old mt freinds daughter weighed 22lbs exact and was on the 50th percentile so your daughter is fine ive been asking similar questions to you like to know what others weigh at that age but they say has long has shes gaining weight and reaching all her milestones and his happy then shes fine you get other babies weighing small and others large good luck

Your doctor is right...there is no "supposed to weigh" when it comes to babies...each baby is different, they are not like dolls that are manufactured to be exactly alike. Listen to your pediatrician, the doctor will let you know if there is a problem.

my health visitors book states and average baby of 50th centile at 1 year would be 20lb 14oz - 22lbs is 10kg and would be on the 75th centile meaning 75% of babies are smaller and 25% heavier- an excellent weight to have. My baby is also on that centile for weigth and 98th for height!! cat xx
