What do you think would be the first bill/law that they would propose?

I don't think THEY know what they'd do. I don't think they have any opinions or ideas of their own anymore. They're currently focused on whatever Bush isn't saying - just taking the opposite stance across the board. It makes them sound smart a lot of the time, but they really have nothing more than just opposition on their mind.

They would need to get an easy win under their belts...to establish themselves as a competent and cohesive group, not the fractured mees they currently are. The last thing they should do right out of the gate is start a battle, which will make them like divisive.
I know that the Pres just veto's the Stem-Cell Bill, but maybe they should redo it with a few provisions to appease the Cons a little. Stem-Cell Research is supported by the vast majority of the country and they need a popular issue to run on. And if the Pres still kills the bill, it only makes him look bad, not the Dems.

Gun Ban, Pull out of Iraq/Afghanistan within the week, Raise taxes 20% for new social programs, ect.

probably one of the following:
health care for all americans, make comprehensive drug benefits actually comprehensive, repeal bush tax cuts for the upper 0.5% only, fully fund education (truly no child left behind), raise minimum wage, institute incentives for alternate energy research, more research in stem cells.
