My parents just leased theirs and was trying to get an idea of whats being paid. I know it depends on acrage and % royalties, but I'm just trying to get ideas.

Try asking your question on a specialized bulletine board, such as one operated by the National Association of Royalty Owners - Texas. To get close to the site, simply "google" NARO, Texas, and forum. You will need to sign-in, etc.

The site in the first link below suggests a good attorney. I would call around to several firms and ask for lawyers that handle mineral rights, check out their resumes and hire them just as you would an employee. An experienced lawyer can let you know if your are getting a deal comparable to his other clients and negotiate a deal that is the best available in today's market.
The second link is a PDF about Barnett Shale. There seems to be a lot of information there. The more you know, the better an advocate you can be for your parents and ultimately yourself.
