I created this thing at my last job (took a long time to do) and then modified it at this one.

Co-worker is only nice when she wants something. She's never been nice to me or my husband. She has a bound copy of my work, but wants the original. She rolled my eyes when I told her I didn't have it and was mad. Yesterday I stalled her.

Nope, not mean. Don't let it get to you. If she continues to give you a hard time just flat out tell her, "I have put a lot of my personal time and energy into creating this. I would rather not give it away." She doesn't need it if she's got a copy of it. You're not going to be there anymore and it sounds as if there isn't a friendship that you need to worry about maintaining either so if she still pushes or gets angry just walk away. There's no reason for her to get angry with you, you created it, and it existed before you even worked there. You've worked on something that hard you deserve to keep it, not her. Be proud of your accomplishment and forget about her petty behavior.

I too, have had the same thing happen to me. I work and work and work, revise, revise, and revise and then after it's all done, blood, sweat & tears, someone else wants me to leave it after I've left the position/company. My response: NO WAY. That's my work. It wasn't there before I worked there and it won't be there after I'm gone. I'm not (and hopefully you as well will not) make it that much easier for someone else, especially if that person/company wasn't nice to me in the first place. If the company/person wants it that badly, they can pay me (you) for it.

It may sound "heartless", but you have to protect what is yours and what you have worked on. Have a lovely rest of the day.

Patent the product fast. Dont give it to her or you can sell her the right for amount unknown but up to you. Make sure the company cannot state its there as well since you work for them at the time you finished the product. Sucks but happens all the time.

If its a document or book than copyright.

Obviously she wants it for a reason. Probably to claim as her own later on down the road. Don't give it to her and be proud that something you've done has gotten so much attention. Hate it for her.

It's yours don't give it to her!!
Especially if she just uses you!! I'm glad you are leaving that situation.
I would get back any and all copies of your work that involves what you created!! If possible.
She seems do be a person that would take credit for someone(your) elses work!!

You created it. It is yours. Don't give it to her. I wouldn't have even give her a hard copy. Don't worry about being mean, obviously she hasn't. Take your "thing" and go. Not a second thought.

I wonder why she needs the original when she has the copy. It seems she wants to claim the work as hers.....Freeloader!!! Let her get mad all she wants...

It is your creation, which by the way I hope has your name on it as the creator. You have no obligation to give her the original.
