Hmmmm... it is dangerous, but I think that what happens is that your genitals just get deprived of the proper nutrients for too long. Worst case scenario is that you have to have something amputated. More than likely though it'll wear off with the shower sugguestion, and if it doesn't, find some viagra-like products and read the call number on the back and ask their customer service for help.
I think poking your balls with a hot ember usually helps
