I think they all suck. But Cingular sucks the least.

Depends on what you're looking for, are you looking for a prepaid service or willing to sign a contract to get a plan with whenever minutes? Each company has its pros and cons.
Cingular Plans:
Cingular's plans have rollover minutes, so if you don't use all your minutes any given month, they rollover to next month, and so on. I believe they rollover for up to 12 months. But, you also pay for this, as in you get less whenever minutes for the same money as some of the competition. Rollover is good say if your usage spikes abnormally high one month, you have those buffer minutes to protect you.
Cingular GoPhone is a prepaid service. You can get it with unlimited nights and weekends, but you have to have a credit card that your statement is billed to each month. Also, I believe connection fees apply
Sprint
Sprint plans are reasonably competitive, meaning their whenever minutes are pretty much in line with the competition for the price, and they also offer unlimited nights beginning at 7 pm, the competition starts at 9 pm. Downside is their coverage is very iffy, at best. If you do go with Sprint, make sure you have some sort of return policy in case the phone doesn't work where you need it to.
Sprint Prepaid is Virgin Mobile I believe, and I don't know much about it.
Verizon
Verizon plans are very expensive compared to the competition, but they do have the largest reliable coverage. However, if you never travel to anywhere where the cows outnumber ppl 10 to 1 you may not need all that coverage.
I know nothing about their prepaid coverage.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile plans will offer you the most whenever minutes for the price hands down compared to the competition. They also give you the option to go with a 1 or 2 year contract on their plans. They were ranked No 1 in coverage, not meaning they have the most coverage, meaning they have the most reliable coverage where it counts. Their service in town and along all major highways is super, however is lacking in some rural areas. It depends where you live, but T-Mobile has the most coverage in Texas, Minnesota, California, and New York. They also have a personal coverage check, which is a computer that can show you detailed coverage and what kind of signal strength you can expect at any location in the country. They have also won Highest Customer Satisfaction 3 years in a row by JD Powers.
I would say T-Mobile is the best. I've had them for 5 years and no problems. The phone works everywhere I need it to, and their customer service is world class. My suggestion? Visit each of these places and grab a brochure and ask questions before you buy anything. Write things down if you need to. And whatever you do, don't buy at the first place you go, that defeats the purpose of shopping around. Remember, these people mostly work on commission, so all they are concerned about is getting a sale. Good luck!

I am a teenager with a small amount of money and so is my sister so we found a Cellphone Solution with Tracfone. Especially when it is as low as $8.33/month http://www.tracfone.com it is awesome it is a prepaid phone with no age limits no montly bills no hidden fees/costs and no contracts and with all the calling features such as free voicemail free caller id free call waiting and free nationwide long distance. all for as little as $10 a month calculated minimum usage because you have to buy a minute card every 60 or every 365 days depending on if you bought the year service card because the cheapest minute card is 20 dollars and you would have to add one every 60 days it would be around $10 a month which isnt bad. Hope this Helps!!!!!! Tracfone Wireless is awesome good luck choosing your phone!!
P.S. and a phone kit is only about $20 bucks @ your local walmart walgreens and family dollar stores etc. this includes up to 20 minutes and 60 days of wireless service included
And I will tell you when Tracfone Says they have "Nationwide coverage" they absolutely mean it I use it all the time and I would rather have nationwide coverage across the U.S. than have free mobile web on fridays with boost mobile but it all depends on the user preference or even if you want to make the monthly cost go down get a year service card for $100 and it works out to be $8.33 a month which is even cheaper than the $10 I mentioned earlier.
Hope this helps!! :)
Plus they offer a 30 day* money back guarantee + one year warranty on the cellphone at no addl' cost. So what do you have to lose??
I have quite a few tracfones and they are the best phones and service I have EVER had!!!
It also chooses the most reliable wireless carrier for the zipcode you enter so you will get the best possible reception for your home calling area zipcode. Example: my calling area is in zipcode 61554 and so tracfone chose U.S. Cellular as my cellular carrier and it has awesome reception 7 bars!! almost all the time!! So no dropped calls!
I also forgot to mention their is no daily access fees/charges because all those fees are included in your prepaid airtime card prices.
I also want to tell you something more about tracfone is that they have "nationwide" coverage in the united states even in hawaii alaska and the U.S. virgin islands. I originally wanted a prepaid Alltel U phone but to my surprise Alltel had no coverage whatsover in my hometown zipcode so tracfone worked for me.
OR
If you are a frequent talker you could try NET10 Wireless 10 cents/min 24/7/365 it is the frequent-user service also affiliated and provided by Tracfone http://www.net10.com

It all depends on your needs and location. For example, Sprint has excellent plans at good prices, but their service is spotty in less populated areas. Verizon has many happy customers, and their phones offer some features not available with some other companies (like Navigation help). Ask people where you live and/or where you plan to be what service provider they like best. That's where we have had our greatest success. Good luck!

well, I've had verizon and cingular.
I can't say for sure if cingular is the best. They do try really hard, but I do have issues with text messages often and yesterday they had a problem with the tower and we lost all service- for two hours! I was in a panic, but they did work to bring it back as quick as they can.
I would say they are easy to work with, and I can get a signal in more places.... but if they'd only improve the text messaging I'd be happy.

Verizon has two different networks a digital and an analog network if you are on the digital network you can call customers on the digital network for free but if you call customers on the analog netowrk it isnt free and if you look at their coverage map it look all colored in but beware light red and dark red are the different networks and you get charged if you are on a dark red plan and go into the light red areas! I switched to cingular because I heard their ceo hates verizon and refers to verizon as the evil empire! anyone that hates verizon is good people in my book!

Whatever you do, DO NOT GET SPRINT! Trust me, they really suck. We had so many problems with them, it's ridiculous, and their phones suck. Go with Cingular or Verizon....
