That's a good question because there does seem to be a correlation for many people but I don't think anyone has seriously looked into it. I do know that stress can cause both or make them worse if you have the tendency to get them anyway, also diet may play a role. For example PCOS subsides for some on a low carb or low sugar diet and maybe there is a digestive disorder there too. So possibly one of the underlying causes, cause both and thats why they come together. It is now known for many women IBS is hormonal so possibly PCOS could cause that. Neither are very well understood so I don't think anybody knows for sure.

I do believe it can, IBS can be effected by your hormones - thus why women tend to suffer from IBS more than men and why menstruation can trigger off worse IBS symptoms.
Becuase PCOS has to do with hormones it stands to reason that it could cause IBs to develop. I know when I was on hormonal birth control IBS developed, so in essence anythig that messes up your hormones is going to have the potential to cause IBS.

There is no connection. IBS has no explained etiology. It's a problem with the nervous system of the digestive track and not an organic disease. PCOS however can cause symptoms similar to IBS.

I can relate.. I have both! Wow aren't I lucky... As uncomfrotable as having both can be it's not unmanagelable.. I found out that due to my PCOS, my hormones were unbalanced. Because of this digestion does tend to go out of wack and it emulates symptoms of IBS.. If you ever had a cyst, abnormal periods, or even PCOS, I recommend seeing your doctor about getting your hormones tested.. Those dreaded hormones can control everything and when one part of them goes crazy, many thinsg go wacko...

I don't believe there is a link yet... but it's possible when your insides are dealing with issues... lol... you know what I mean. I haven't heard of a direct link, but it's always possible, but I think IBS is a lot more common in general... I'm sorry if you have both!!!
