It really depends on what you like in a good movie. Personally, I loved Lady in the Water - it was well acted, the story was put together very well, and it kept me guessing and wondering how everything was going to happen in the end.
This is not; however, a horror movie. There are monsters and scary things to please the crowd that hated the Village, but Lady in the Water is more like a story about a story and M. Night Shyamalan's story-telling abilities shine brilliantly in this film.
If you appreciate a good story and good acting - go see it, but if you're thinking this is some hack and slay horror film - don't waste your time. The thing people need to realize about M. Night is that his movies are not about scaring people, but they are about making people think - there is a philosophy he is trying to convey in his films and I think a lot of people miss it because they are expecting horrible things to happen.
:) Hope that helps.

I would recommend renting it when it comes out on DVD,but not going to see it at the theater. I am a big fan of his other movies, but this one was very disappointing. Compared to the other movies this one took a deep belly flop in "the water". I was so excited to go see this movie,b ut know wish I just would have watch Pirates of the Caribbean again. There is no twist at the end of the movie, it just ends (and not a very good one either), its one of those endings that makes you think WTF happened like you need to know more. The acting is corny, the story is dragged out, he used humor in this film WTF, the are ape like creatures ant the end of the movie that help the Narf where at the beginning it says the apes (tartunics-or however its spelled) are more evil than to wolf like creature that is after the narf. It just does not make sense. Also the tell you the whole story at the beginning of the movie so it leave absolutely no mystery throughout the movie.

i thought the movie looked interesting in the commercials on tv, but once i read a review that told what the actual plot of the movie was, i didn't want to see it anymore. i know movie critics can be really harsh sometimes, but it just sounds really bad. as much as movies cost these days, i wouldn't pay to see it.

You could do worse, but it's not up to what he's done in the past.
Still, I have seen OK reviews (B- or B)

it was AWESOME! i mean, the reason that critics don't like it is because it isn't a horror movie like the trailers make it out to be -- it's more like Signs, an investigation of the human condition
