Horizontal drilling is generally practiced at sea or in areas where location of a direct well is costly, impractical or unacceptable. For example, a lot of horizontal drilling has been done off the coast of California to extract deposits under Huntington Beach.

Oil reserves in the Alaskan wilderness area are a different matter. They are too far away for a scam such as you suggest - and yes, you are proposing a scam.

Further, the issue is activity of people intruding on a wilderness preserve, created for many reasons. I keep wondering what part of "no" people don't understand.

Bush should NOT be attempting to do what he is. It is part of a scheme to enrich a few oil industry executives and certain investors at the public expense, and to intrude on a sensitive area protected for good reasons.

If Bush wants to drill in Alaska, or any other protected sites, let him have the guts to attempt to remove the protection from those sites.

The Bush "energy policy" is a complete fraud from top to bottom. Like your idea.

There is already much oil in the U.S. just setting there, producing wells were shut down and capped in the 70's by the oil company's and they buy oil overseas to boost their profits. Exon to the tune of over 10 Billion dollars in the last 3 months. A record.

Well if you are talking about Natural Gas or not......B/c if we did then yeah nothing would happen b/c its someone else property. & also for the fact that the restricted area people have as much control over their property as anyone esle but if to say Bush did do that, then they can ***** and complain all they want but can't do nothing about it unless for disturbing the peace or something like that.
