i just got my license few weeks ago and am not on my parents insurance till next week at least. i got a speeding ticket i was going 7 miles over the limit. it was an emergency i was on my way to the eye doctor because my contacts got stuck behind my eyes and i could not move them. they ended up having to use tweezers to remove them. anyway can i use a doctors note when i go to court or will i get in more trouble? my parents will be mad so i have not told them the prosecuter offered me a deal to pay just 500 dollars but get no points on my license?should i try and fight it i am broke and now my parents wont want to pay? i would perfer to have all charges dropped.

If you could drive it wasn't an emergencyand if you weren't bleeding to death you shouldn't speed anyway!. Tell your folks. They made mistakes when they were young and will understand. You still need to pay the consequences of going against the law. Your parents may have an attorney to help lower the costs or may want to just pay up so it won't hurt their ins. As adults they made a mistake to let you drive without ins. Maybe you all can pay this and start over in a week or so after you get on ins. You didn't say if you have no ins. charges against you. Just promise your parents that you have learned your lesson and will not drive until they get you on ins. and then you will obey the law and their rules. You have waited several years to be able to drive and another week won't hurt you! Be careful so other ppl can be safe, you have taken a very large weapon and pushed the speed limit and can really hurt or kill someone before you know it. Experienced or not accidents happens, and it is not an accident if you are speeding.Besy Wishes!

A stuck contact is NOT an emergency. Try taking responsibility for your actions. Your parents will find out eventually, either a court letter or a letter from the DMV will show up in your mailbox. Don't drive unless you can be responsible. I am assuming that your vision was not the greatest while driving to eye doctors either, do me a favour and stay off the road. You are too immature.

If your contacts weren't in properly you probably shouldn't have been driving even if you were insured. Doesn't your license have a restriction on it for eyeglasses or contacts?

You need to talk to your parents. You are a minor. You can't go to court or handle this legal stuff on your own. I'm sure the judge and prosecuter will insist on talking to your parents eventually. Come clean with your parents!

That is a lot of money for 7 miles over the speed limit. I don't think someone is being straight with you for one. I would tell your parents anyway. Don't you think your parents will understand if you were going to the doctor? I know, as a parent, I would be a lot more understanding and a lot less upset if my child told me the truth.

It doesn't matter whether you would prefer to have the charges dropped, you broke the law. You were driving without insurance. Of course your parents don't want to pay, THEY didn't break the law, but this is going to be a mark against them on their insurance and their rates will more than likely go up because of YOUR screw up. Pay the money and quit whining, if you were my child you would no longer have your license.

7 miles over the limit? That's nothing and no don't pay $500.00 that's s rip off and if you can go to driving school there won't be any points on your license. Talk to your parents about it and explain to them. It's better to be honest than for you to get in more trouble later, ya know?

that is an awful lot of money for 7 miles over the limit. maybe you should talk with your parents and maybe get a lawyer to find the charges. the doctor's note will not stand up in court.

next time, slow down!

The note may work, but it is still a good idea to tell your parents; they may able to do something. Of course, expect some punishment. Why not work a part-time job to pay $500?
