It's all relative. Each and every war has moments that could be considered the worst in history. If you're doing research, then you need to coincide a particular war with the culture and era of that particular war: economy, how many nations faught in that war, how many lives were lost in that war, etc.

The Gulf War and the War on Terrorism are fresh in everyone's minds today but WW II was worse, according to the history books. It's hard to tell when there is no one left around to tell the stories of what really happened. Again, it's all relative to the real answer you are wanting.

I would have to say in modern times it would be the 30 Years War (1618-1648). Bands of mercenaries just wandering around and killing people. But WW2 if you count the holocaust ... which sadly was not a reason that anyone went to war. In more ancient times, the Crusades were pretty bad if you lump them together and have made a huge impact on global politics for the next thousand years.
And to those who said this modern Iraq war ... lol. Yeah, that would not make the top 1000 list of bad wars.

Hello dear!
I think, we are living the worst war in history!
We have reached to this lowest point through other wars, but inhumane behavior ruling our lives now is worse than killing!

All of them are equally bad.
Stupid men (sometimes women, but mostly men) who can't solve silly problems except by killing each other. Over what? Religion, a little piece of land, a diplomatic slight, oil, etc.
WWII was one of the few in which there were almost justifiable reasons to do what was done on the allies' side, but had they acted against Hitler and Japan earlier on instead of letting them get so far, the whole thing could have been avoided.
They're all STUPID.

The "Cainanite War" mentioned in Genesis when Cain wiped out about 25% of the world's population with one stone. Since then, men have been trying to improve on his feat.

From what I've been told, and the little bit that i managed to absorb in history class I'd say the WW1 was the worst.

Germany vs Russia in the second world war sounded pretty horrific.

Depends on how you define worst?? worst in tactics, strategy, worst as in most dead, most civilians killed, worst leadership, worst reason for going to war???

Each one of these would have a different answer.
