Where is the union I can join that let's me sweep floors for 35$ an hour? I'll take that deal.

They ignore worker rights because its much cheaper and effective to put out television ads that convince people they care about worker rights.

Do you know what a union is? It is a group of workers who decide "Eh, screw it, lets not listen to our boss, we want to be paid...hmm...$63 an hour" It's legal and they can try to DEMAND the company to do what they want. A Union worker cannot be fired while on strike, so often times, the business will get strangled and go bankrupt if they dont give in to the unions terms. Also, if the business hires new workers to replace the old ones ( called "scabs"), they are often pelted with food or rocks. And if there is a big job (like the Big Dig) and there are two companies, one union, one not-union, fighting to get hired, and the union company doesn't get hired, they have so many connections that they will see that some supplies might be a month late, or that some of the suppliers wont even work for them anymore. It's becoming like a mafia. Thats considered "workers rights "

If the DNC supports a high living wage and then supports taxing it more, you are still at square one.

Once you get your higher degree, do you expect to make more money? Will you support a government policy that states someone who didn't make that commitment should make just as much as you? That truly is the bottom line you know. If the janitor makes an extra $10 an hour that comes out of the labor cost and provides less funds available for those that have made a commitment to better themselves.

It appears from the actions of most republican lawmakers and the president that they intend to redistribute wealth in favor of the rich in order to create a more distinct rich ruling class and a large, poor proletariat.

What annoys me is when my not very well to do relatives vote for republicans because they have "family values." Those values are far from what would really help families, like a living wage.

Oh david c, this one really hurts... no phony liberal website to quote on this one? Has some big mean old conservative kept you from getting a real job? See if those day care helpers of yours can make him sit in the "sad chair" in the corner until he promises to behave. I would be in favor of that, even if it does bump into his self-esteem a little. We can't have those mean old conservatives ignoring workers' rights - the communist party would never stand for that. You keep talking david c - maybe mail some more letters, that will learn him, or hit them with one of your diplomas... nasty old mean Republicans...

Is that it. Your question has no weight. Which rights has the GOP ignored? Which workers? What would you suggest should be done? There is no way to answer your question because it is really a statement.

Martha Stewart and Kathy Lee Gifford aren't republicans... remember their sweat shops? How about Nike??? Not run by a Republican... interesting....

Here's a better question. Why is it Democrats continue to profess to be for the "common man" when most of them are trust-fund babies (kennedy kompound klan), racist men of God(sharpton and jessee), or outright poverty pimps (al gore's slums)? And, when did someone become a millionare earning minumum wage? I need about 70 grand a year, is that considered my minimum wage? how about my "living wage"?

Funny how this class warfare crap falls apart when you study it with a critical eye...

For the 4321st time, repuglicans are for the very rich and the large corporations. They have no interest in the common people of this country, as witnessed by their tax cuts for the very rich. Also giving themselves a raise but not raising minimum wage
