Have you seen it? If so, is it a movie worth renting? Worth buying?

I've seen it. It was a beautiful reflection on childhood and innocence, with some wonderfully constructed scenes. I thought it was a tad bit overrated, but very very good nonetheless. It's probably worth owning, but you may want to rent first.

Yes, you should definitely rent it, along with all the other Antoine Doinel movies, especially Stolen Kisses and Bed and Board.
If you have any interest at all in Francois Truffaut, who in my opinion is one of the great film directors, it is absolutely essential to see The 400 Blows, as it is highly autobiographical.
