has anyone heard of the gang MS 13? I heard about it on Oprah yesterday for the first time, but I guess they are supposed to be a big threat and I was wondering how many other people knew about them.

They've been around for years. Very violent, not much in the way of redeeming characteristics.

MS-13 is a very active gang, originally headquartered in El Salvador. The interesting characteristic about this group is the level of organization They are active in the drug, firearm and prostitution trade, as most gangs in low and no-income areas are. MS-13's members are largely young, unsupervised, under-educated and unemployed teens who join as a matter of survival. Some of the stories about MS-13 gang activity involve young people who have recently, along with their failies, immigrated to the US and started their own 'chapters'. Other MS-13 groups, popping up in the news, are 'copy-cat' groups that have very little, or no, dealings with the original El Salvadoran gang.

There was a war in El Salvador in the early 80's. The exiled soldiers from the war came to LA. The gangs in LA terrorized them until the were forced to start their own gang, Mara Salvatrucha. The 13 is believed to stand for M the 13th letter of the alphabet. Since then they have become huge in numbers, and very violent. They are all over the world, but Mostly in the United States, and El Salvador.

I know them better than i want to. I have seen friends die for that gang and be killed by that gang

I have heard about them. They are a bad *** mexican gang. I have watched a documentary about them on A&E. But what makes them such a threat is that they have so many people in their gang. they are in over half of the states of the US. And they are also in Mexico thats were they started. But I am from a small town in oklahoma and I know about them. They are some crazy MoFo's though!
