Is there a reason you want to announce it? I've found that many of my daughters' friends find it "cool" and act as though it's a status symbol or statement to be "gay", but when approached by someone of the same sex looking for a relationship, they run the other way. These kids are just looking to rebel or cause commotion.

If you have a serious partner who is being ignored, left out or otherwise negatively affected by your sexual preference not being known and you feel you can stand up to those who may not accept you, then go ahead and announce it. If you want to just create a stir in your community or draw attention to yourself, you should seriously reconsider and keep your bedroom habits to yourself.
