You either need Adobe Acrobat Pro or a PDF Converter, google "PDF Converter" and you'll find several links that has a free download of the program.

Click below for a free trial program.

You can use other Adobe products to turn it into other picture type files. Adobe Photoshop can do this. But you mentioned .dox, .xsl, which are Windows programs' type files. You can't convert them there. Try copy and paste into Word too, not sure that it will work, but it's worth a shot.

Also, You can buy Adobe Professional 7.0 and you can edit the pdf file and when you select the text you can copy and paste it into a Word Document, but it won't hold its form and it probably won't really do what you want it to do.

Adobe Reader 7.0 will search the document for you if that's all your looking to do.

Why must you convert it?

You can always do searches using PDF.

If you want to convert it, you can use Adobe Standard and do a save as. i don' think you can go direct from PDF to DOC.

Also, my new favorite program is Copernic, which allows you to develop a DB and do a search on PDF and DOCs straight from your desktop.

You'll probably need a full version copy of Adobe Acrobat. It allows you to save into multiple formats including .doc, .xls, etc.) I discovered some other options at http://www.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Q_21643738.html.
