I was diagnosed with PCOS 8 years ago. Some of the symptoms are:
1. Irregular or absent menses
2. Obesity or inability to lose weight
3. Excessive body or facial hair (hirsutism)
4. Insulin resistance and possibly diabetes
5. High blood pressure
6. Multiple hormone imbalances commonly including FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), androgens (testosterone), estrogens, progesterone, LH (luteinizing hormone), and thyroid hormones.
7. Acne
8. Infertility
9. Multiple ovarian cysts
10. Ovaries that are 2-5 times larger than healthy ovaries.
11. Thinning of scalp hair.

In each menstral cycle, follicles grow on the ovaries. Eggs develop within those follicles, one of which will reach maturity sooner than the others and be released into the fallopian tubes. The remaining follicles will dissolve back into the ovary.

In the case of polycystic ovaries, however, the ovaries are larger than normal, and there are a series of undeveloped follicles that appear in clumps, rather like a bunch of grapes. Polycystic ovaries are not necessarily troublesome and may not even affect your fertility.

However, when the cysts cause a hormonal imbalnace, a patter of symptoms may develop. This pattern is called a syndrome. These symptoms are the difference between suffering from PCOS and from simply have polycystic ovaries.

PCOS is the most common hormonal dissorder occuring in women during their reproductive years. It's thought that 4% to 10% of all women have PCOS.

Be sure to speak with your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. I didn't see my doctor for the first 3 years because I thought it was just normal, but it's not.

I might get a 2d opinion before doing anything predominant. I used to be on clomid for 6 cycles and i've fairly unhealthy PCOS. As soon as in a at the same time my ovaries would swell, but if your health practitioner is monitoring you, they must trap it early. If the healthcare professional that gave you the clomid is not monitoring you, then maybe you ought to in finding a different health care provider. I had no problem clomid while trying to conceive. I'd advise seeing an reproductive endocrinologist that makes a speciality of these variety of issues. As for the clomid affecting your progesterone, i do not consider it was once the clomid, but the part results of the Pcos. When I sooner or later conceived via IVF, I had to be on progesterone photographs since with PCOS your body would not produce ample of it. Just loosen up just a little. I know the loss is difficult, I misplaced my little one at 22 week, but I consider it is too early for you to make selections about ever making an attempt again. I too made those decisions correct after I lost my little one, but now 7 months later i am attempting once more.

I am diagnosed with PCOS and it sucks bad! I didn't realize I had it until I started trying to get pregnant. I spend nearly 4 years just trying before I went to a doctor. The I spent 3 years on fertility meds -- mostly Clomid. Nothing helped and so I finally gave up, went back on birth control (to help regulate periods) and just convinced myself I wouldn't have kids. I ended up going through a divorce and remarrying and my new husband wanted me to try again, so my dr had me go off birth control so I could start fertility testing again -- and oops -- got pregnant!! I now have a 3 month old. It's a tough condition to figure out (and I got lucky), but with fertility treatment, lots of women have had babies. There are many websites that offer support and information and I'll post a few. Good luck to you and God Bless!!
