The way I learned, was to: Put one foot on the toilet seat, and one foot on the ground so that the tampon will be easier to put in. Relax your vaginal muscle (like if you have to pee) and then push the tampon it. Depending on what brand it is, you may have to push the little part of the carton through the smaller part, which slowly releases the tampon. Let the string hang, (not out of your underwear). Also, i would recommend panty liners too, for extra protection, just in case ur flow is heavy. Before u know it , it will be as easy as putting on a house slipper.

Read the directions.....the hardest part is finding the proper place to insert the tampon. At the age where it is necessary to start using tampons, most girls have not explored their bodies enough to make this a common sense issue. Get a mirror, the box of tampons and the directions. It can be very frustrating, but eventually you will be able to do it, and you will be much more comfortable and feel much more clean. Good luck!

Read the instructions!

But, here's something they don't tell you (I know from personal experience): if you try to remove a tampon you just inserted, it will not come out easily. They are designed to stay put -- when I was young, I said, well, I'll just put it in, then take it right back out, don't try it honey, it'll scare the crap out of you! Tampons are generally good for about 4 hours, unless you're exeperiencing heavy bleeding, then you might need to change more often. But don't go longer than 4 hours, and use a pad at bedtime rather than t-pon.

you insert the applicator, push the tampon up via the insertion tube remove the plastic applicator and voila! tampon is inserted...If you are unsure get the large box and practice with a little lube until you get it right..Use fresh tampons each time..
