A woman I work with (an equal position) always touches my arm when she talks to me and so one day when she was touching my arm I reached down and put my hand on her leg (mid-thigh) and she started shaking and saying what are you doing, what are you doing? Then she ran out and banged on our bosses door. They were in his office for like 30 minutes.

Assuming she complained, you are in trouble. Assuming she is not in mini skirt and you did not caress her thigh (intent to arouse someone). What your boss would probably do is call you to face her complaint. What you should do is show that you are surprised of the complaint and then humble down to apologize. Tell her that sometimes when you talk to good friends in close range, you sometimes "involuntarily" touch them to emphasize your point or get their undivided attention. Thank her for making youaware that some people may not like being touched even while in casual friendly conversation. You should not mention anything about her touching your arms because it would appear that you are accusing her of initiating the flirtation.

You could indeed be in trouble. It is always a bad idea to get intimate with anyone at work, no matter what the sitcoms say. Here's what I would reccommend doing: apologize to her, and admit that you misunderstood her actions to indicate a physical interest in you. Some people just touch when they talk...it's a personality thing. If you don't formally apologize and then never do it again, you could definitely lose your job. I'm sorry, man...that's not an eviable position. But you can get out of it clean. Just admit fault and don't do it again.

You will probably get written up for sexual harassment. Touching someone's thigh is a lot different than touching their arm. You should have just asked her to stop touching you.

So, by your idealogy....if a woman say, touches your shoulder when speaking to you....are you gonna whip it out cause you think that's what she wants?

Dude, just because someone touches you doesn't mean they want to DO you.

You are in BIG TIME trouble.

Tell your boss the truth! She was making you uncomfortable so you responded the only way you saw fit. I would not have done it the way you did but we would all be millionaires if hindsight was forsight.

Sounds like you're in trouble. You should talk to her and let her know it was a misunderstanding (if it was). If it wasn't then quit sexually harassing people!
