I've been searching for a job for over eight months know and I can't afford to move to another state. Shouldn't I be able to work at a punk as Radio Shack, hot and funky Auto Zone, or a slime fest Walmart, a cake footlocker without resorting to fast food restuarants for work. What do you think?

As a fellow felon due to circumstances that were not my fault or should I say items that were not mine (yes, they all say that but I am serious) I agree. Why can't I get a freaking job anywhere that does background checks?! It was ten years ago and I am still looked down on...it's BS. But sometimes it depends on the type of crime. I would never hire someone with any sexual assault charges or violence (other than the misd batteries (sp?) anyone can get in a barfight) on their record. Somethings can be explained better in person and I would give them a chance to explain certain charges.

Try jobs at more mom and pop spots like a busboy or waiter... I did have a job at a Hess Station several years ago and they didn't care about my record. I also was offered a job at a Walgreens in the photo dept after the manager watched me edit and fix an old photo on their computer. When I filled the app out she tore it up and said redo it but leave out the felon part because they'd never check...

A really, really bad melon? kidding...

You obviously have (or have access to a computer) use it to find and or create a job.

When starvation is looming, you would be suprised how resourcefull a man can be.

It is a catch 22 in life when you commmit a crime you do your time and the institution that is supposed to correct you (as in the word corrections) makes it worse for you to ever be able to let you live down your past.

What it means to me is irrelevent because I will never employ you. Honesty is always the best policy. Find someone you can learn from or someone who has been there and is willing to allow you a second chance. Don't let them catch you in the cycle of in and out for a lack of the strength you will need to make it. Going back inside is the easy way for 3 square a day. Make it work you can do it! It is your challenge in life. Look at it like that.

It is hard..to find job alot of jobs require so much...i think it might depend on the job..i mean if it is something along the lines of THEFT...then hell these jobs will only look at well they stole before...so it gets very sticky. you can get things taken off your record you just have to gothrough the steps..try going to your local court house and ask a clerk..i know in my county you need to get the police report from the Police Dept and take that to the criminal clerks office..I work with the county so that is how i know what we do

GOOD LUCK TO YOU

I hired a felon once. This is why. To the question "have you ever been convicted of a felony" he answered "Yes- I was young and stupid. But I've done my time and I'm ready to move on." Good luck.
