my dad is a retired NYC fireman but i don't think it should matter if you knew somebody who died there or not, it was a major attack

Are you kidding? People won't shut up about 9/11.

Are you insane? It's become the rallying cry for every excuse for Americans to act like terrorists. For crying out loud. The friggin government hasn't even gone after the people responsible for it yet and they're still using it as an excuse to kill people. If it did happen again, maybe people would wake up and see how irresponsible our government has been about the whole thing.
9/11 was an opportunity to see real change in this country and its relationship with the rest of the world.

Do you remember the weeks after? We had the good will of the world. The WHOLE COUNTRY was willing to work together, and then what happened? It all went to hell for the sake of a political agenda and the Green God in which we trust.. All those people died and it accomplished nothing but more senseless death and disunity in our country. Yea, I'll never forget it. And the people who did it are still free while innocent people suffer for nothing. Beautiful.

I don't think anyone could intentionally forget.....though a lot of us would like to. I lost a cousin the attack. To me, it was a seachange moment for this country. There has always been terrorism....even prior to 911, but none this bold, this destructive.

Now, to elaborate.... what i WOULD like to forget... is how this country is turning a blind eye to how this administration is using 9/11 as a springboard to launch a global land & natural resource grab on the back and blood of our soldiers.... our men and women in the armed service. The neo-con plans which go back well into the 90's, include invading iran, syria, libya, somalia & sudan, all backed by the guise of "fighting terror".

Ironic that the US has no active plans to invade the 2 most prolific countries who export terrorists and money to fund terrorist: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. That is because the Bush family along with the Carlyle group, are in bed with the Royal Saudis.

They don't give a **** about Israel....or terrorism. They are using this as an excuse to rape the US taxpayers of trillions of dollars, to line their pockets.

War is big business... and as the US continues to lose market share in manufacturing and high tech, and dwells in the pits of a service dominated economy, War will be the only thing left to profiteer from.

Wake up america.... 9/11 was horrific... but what is worse is the aftermath wrought by Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld & George Bush.

The sad part is, because Americans are just too damn lazy, ignorant and pre-occupied with thier lives, they won't do anything to effect change, and the blood of our men and women will continue to spill.

I don't think people have necessarily forgotten, I think they don't want to think about it. I know at times this is the way I feel unfortunately. It's too upsetting and people will try to ignore it, or block it out. It's not necessarily because they don't care or they're being disrespectful of those who died. It's a basic human instinct (part of the 'fight-or-flight' instinct) to block out or deliberately 'bury their head in the sand' as a defense mechanism, per se. People in general do this whenever they're faced with something so catastrophic.

I did a research paper one time for a class about the world's reaction to the Holocaust right after WW2. Believe it or not, most Europeans and Americans flat-out denied the Holocaust could've happened because it was so unimaginable. But as we've progressed further away in time from the Holocaust, we can see it from the whole perspective. I think that September 11 is still "too close" to us. Give it time when we're able to see the whole picture more clearly and people will start acknowledging it and recognizing it for what it really was.

It was a wakeup call to a nation that thought terrorism would never touch them, while all humans on earth are vulnerable to it. The part that saddens me is that if it were to happen again today, the nation as a whole really wouldn't be ready or have plans in place, despite the creation of Homeland Security. Terrorists are among all of us, every day, and we probably interact with them and don't even know it. I certainly haven't forgotten about it, and there have been many attacks in many countries since then. How many of us think about the attacks on the London Bus System, or the multitude of suicide and bus bombings in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, the list goes on and on. It is human nature anymore to be shocked, then move on. It is a sad commentary on our times.....Thanks to your father for serving the public. I hope he enjoys his retirement to a ripe old age in a healthy way.

Yeah I mean why would we want to constantly fret over the worst day in American history? Don't worry Hollywood isn't letting us forget. The are great at taking opportunity and making something very bad . Like flight 93 and the new movie World Trade Center. So here is to Hollywood for without them we may have not have had to relive the tradgedy that was 9/11. Thank You HollyWood!!!!!

I can assure you there is still at least 1 American who still cares! I respect all men and women who risked their lives during 9/11 and pray for thier families at night...as well as for the soldiers all over the globe. I am still outraged and will not stop being until Bin Laden and all of those other kids over in the Middle East have been stopped!

I don't think there is one person living in this country, who saw those planes fly into the buildings and the buildings collapse in a heap of dust...that will ever, ever, forget that day.

This country will never be the same because of what happened on 9/11. If we don't speak about it, it's because it's so painful.

I don't think so...I was at Ground Zero last Saturday and it was more crowded than Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, etc.

Also, every tour guide on every bus or boat got more questions from tourists about 9/11 than any other subject.
