I got my period at 12. My daughter is 10. Most girls in her grade are getting their periods or already have them. I want to be ready when she has hers.

It depends on the body type. My mother got hers at 14, and I got mine at 8-9. The difference was my mom was in a different country, than I. The age period is between 8-18. Hopefully she will get hers soon. Most girls get their period by 10 or 12. If she doesn't get hers by 16 or 18, you might want to see a doctor. But, don't worry. You might want to talk to her about this before, just incase it knocks on her door ahead of time. The school should do that too. Good luck. Remember that it depends on the body type too.

The truth is there is no way to tell when your daughter will get her period. It all depends on her body and how fast her body is maturing. There may be a few things to look for like if she is developing a chest or if her body is "filling out." Just because you got your period at 12 doesn't mean she will get hers a t 12. If your daughter is athletic this may delay her period coming. Since there is no way to know just try to be ready at all times. It will come when you least expect it. My mother got her period at 10, my sister was 12 and I got mine at 13!

getting your period isn't really something you can get ready for....as far as knowing when it's finally going to happen.

her body is different from everyone else's, even yours, so she will get her period whenever she gets it. that's all anyone can say.

now, as for preparing.... i would maybe be on the alert for it by already having feminine products for her. like panty liners, pads and maybe even teen tampons.

also, as a mom, perhaps you can also prepare by thinking about how you want to celebrate your daughter's entrance into "womanhood". i knew girls whose moms took them out of school and then they spent the day shopping, going to lunch....manicures, you know...girl stuff.

so, hang in there...she'll get it when it's her time and take care.

Are you kidding me? If you are a grown woman with a daughter who is 10 then I would hope that you know that her first menses will come when her body says it is time.

Probably around the same time that you did. I did around the same time my mother did. And the same with my sister. But every woman is different, she'll get hers when her body is ready.

She will get her's when it is time for her to get her's. Every person is an individual and therefore different. You can't predict when the onset of menses will arrive.
