For Orange County, if you'd like to stay cheap, then here's my ideas!!...
Orange County Swap Meet
Irvine Spectrum (has lots of cute little stores!)
The Lab (it's in Costa Mesa.. it's actually called The Lab Antimall)
There's lots of cute little independant stores around here too! just drive up and down some major streets, you'll see them! :)

It would depend on your taste and spending range. More bang for your buck, check out the OC swap meet. Great deals and great stuff. It has been ages since I actually shopped in the OC, but when I did, the hot spot was the Carousel Mall.

You could waste a day in South Coast Plaza if you're hardcore.

try Fashion Island, the groove by santa monica, if you want an aoulet then go to ontario mills
