Conservatives have been running Nevada for as long as I can remember, and our school system really sucks! I believe it is a covert effort to abolish the entire free public education system. It's a political mind-game I call, "If I keep doing it wrong, maybe they'll make me stop doing it".

david c - what a maroon - this is getting downright laughable... Louisiana maybe a red state in that it temporarily gained some sanity to vote for the President, but hello, it is run by Democrats - the governor, david c, the governor is in charge of the state - she is a Democrat... nice try, david c of the many diplomas and a really smart cookie...

david c - how about your buddy Bill the Serial Rapist - his Arkansas was worst in every category, and education was at the bottom when he was governor, but david c, you must know that because you are very smart and your diplomas show that you know everything...

Where do all the big cities, most of which are run by Democrats - where do they fit in the grand scheme of education? Our own Milwaukee Public School System is about to be taken over by the state because it is so mismanaged and corrupt and has no ability to provide any kind of education...

david c, you need to work harder at picking questions, they are just more proof that liberals have nothing to offer... and by the way, nice job of spelling "categories" - it works well with an educational question... You are so smart david c, wow, I just tremble in your presence...

Also, look t the mot wealthy states.. They all seem to be blue states.. and you say us dems are making people poor by voting down tax cuts. I'm sorry, but with tax cuts you have budget cuts.. you republicans cut 40 billion in education not too long ago, and it's no wonder that you guys want tax cuts.. because the american people are getting less educated because of your f*cking tax cuts.. the ecucation system gets worse and worse, and and people have less money. Yet Democrats are smart.. we want to make sure you can go to college, or get a good education so you can get a good job.

As for Louisiana.. They may have a Democrat governer, but Louisiana is by far a red state.

so yeah.. Go Dems!

I live in NC (we have a Democrat governor, have had for years) and we have a sorry education system. Some 60% of our kids drop out.
When I lived in Washington State, a blue state through and through, the public school teachers held a massive rally because the Democratic governor stabbed them in the back.
And when I lived in Ohio, a red state, they actually had a pretty good school system. Believe it or not, even with a Republican governor in Ohio, my family recieved food stamps and I went to head start.
There are fifty states in America. Can't generalize them all based on a few.

tax cuts for the wealthy, more pollution, and screw all the little people. you'd be surprised how quickly you can cut into the budgets of non-essential stuff like education transportation and other stuff like that

of course louisiana should blame the federal government. any state should have, not just democratic ones. in the case of a major natural disaster, a single state does not have the resources to deal with it, and so it is the responsibility of the federal government to step in, and we all know how well THAT worked out.

Republican or democrat most public schools are a wreck. If people were given a choice of which school they wanted to go, they'd go to the best one. Meaning that all the other schools would have to pick up the pace. I mean come on we live in a capitalist country, we should work with that. Make schools competitive kinda like businesses.

Louisiana is run by Democrats, and it was last in evacuating people from a hurricane.

Part of the reasons is when Dems run a state, they blame anything bad that happens on the federal government.

When Bubba ran Arkansas they moved up the rankings from 49th to 50th. Oh, that's last, not first.

A few years ago, the secretary of education in my state, (Dem Gov., Dem Legislature, Dem mayors in all the big cities) said that we can't graduate students from those cities that can make change for a dollar.

Please provide more documentation that your word.

Correrafan is right.

It is all an attempt to bankrupt the government so that all of the social programs that make this country livable will be underfunded and dissolved.

Why do you think Bush has never fully funded "no child left behind"

It is all part a fundemental flaw in reasoning:

Conservatives think that people born poor deserve to be poor forever, and that people born rich deserve to be rich forever. They call this a "culture of personal responsibility".

They do not understand that we are all stronger together, and that we all are responsible for what happens to us.
