Marlin Perkins?
Perkins fabricated the footage of a mass suicide of lemmings on Wild Kingdom. He also punched the reporter, Bob McKeown, who exposed the fabrication.

Marlin Perkins, hosted Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom from 1963 to 1985. He later died in June of 1986.

When the show first came on tv in the 60's the host was Marlin Perkins. Jim Fowler joined shortly after, I believe. Marlin was the head curator of the St. Louis Zoo.
