Actually they kind of scare me. Their Peace Keepers. I ask you is that a made up sounding name or what? Soldiers called peace keepers is sort of redundant. I do not think we have seen the extent to which the UN will be empowered yet. Right now they seem like flies swarming around a bull, annoying but unimportant. But like the fly I think they carry a viral component about the power they themselves are amassing and carry a disease can can bring the bull to it's destruction.

no way man, I may be Indian, but I will defend this to my death: the US is NOT useless!!!
They poke their nose into a lot of other peoples business, leave a trail of destruction wherever they go, killing all and sundry that dare (or happen!) to be in their way, are damn proud of themselves, but they ARE NOT useless! Now something like the UN is what I wud call useless, as they just watch all this go on, from their comfy seats with their popcorn and nachos!!

Too many conflicting nations with Veto power to get anything done. But changing that would mean relinquishing control and the US definitely would not sign up for that. So, yes, it is doomed to fail.

A lot of the time, yeah.

They've done such a bang-up job of bringing about peace in the Middle East (not!), that now we're actually giving them another chance to do it again.

For reasons beyond my understanding.
