“Irish Designation”
In the States, you folks have what's called the designated driver.
Well in Ireland we have something similar, then again quite different.
In Ireland there are strict rules about closing time and in Cork one pub in particular was always having a time of it. So on this night the cops are watching and waiting.
Round about closing time the lights come on in the pub and everyone files out. Though the cops aren't fooled. So they watch and they wait.
Sure enough round about 2:30am a face pokes out the door and its Murphy. Out he comes, staggering down the street till he gets to his car and he drives off.
The cops go after him and about five miles down the road they pull Murphy over. They get him out of the car and administer the field sobriety tests.
Murphy aces each one, passes em with flying colors......
The one cop speaks up, "You're not drunk!"
"No" Murphy replies, "I'm the designated decoy.........."
