I play the trumpet, and recently, whenever I play (especially when I play loudly or high notes) I get a sharp pain in my stomach/abdomen area and I start to feel sick. Is this normal? It didn't happen before. Am I doing something wrong?

no-sounds like you're using your diagphram to breathe...maybe you're getting a "catch" or a "stitch" like runners get...try warming up your abdomen prior to playing, sit-ups, crunches or leg-lifts.

If this doesn't work you SHOULD see a Dr in case you have a small hernia...

I've been playing the Trumpet for 15 years and have never experienced Pain while playing... I would definately talk to a Dr about it.

It is probably due to inexperience of blowing air. Make sure you take deep breaths. Since this has never happened to you before, talk to both a band director and your doctor.

No! Make sure you didn't get valve oil on the mouthpiece or something, that might make you sick if you swallow it. Ask your band director (if you're in school) or a doctor about it.

from lack of oxygen or diaphragm cramps- same thing that happens when u run. try breathing in the nose, out the mouth. also ask your teacher if you have one for breathing techniques to prevent this.
