Koyaanisqatsi (Hopi word meaning "Life out of Balance") struck me as very disturbing, but with profound overtones that ring true. I also watched Powaqqatsi (the second one of the trilogy). The films are very visionary, maybe even prophetic. The music by Philip Glass is pretty interesting too, but that was then. Koyaaanisqatsi was kind of depressing for me to watch, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's a great piece of work. It is. As for the images, the filming and editing techniques in creating the images was pretty cutting edge around the time the film was made, but it's pretty old stuff now. Great short film, but it always made me sad. The world in turmoil.
