same reason they pass the patriot act, that removes our freedoms.

Conservatives are doing NOTHING to help the people. since Bush has been in office, thanks to his tax cuts, our nation is in a huge deficit. Due to this deficit, in the future we are going to be paying a load of taxes, but since he won't be our president at the time, he won't get the blame.
since Bush has been in office, the wage gap has only increased. The poor continue to get poorer, and the rich get richer. the cost of inflation is going up and he's doing nothing about it.
also, to the conservative racists - you guys should do some research. studies have shown that the economy is better when democrats are in office. it seems to be like a liberal trend lol.. look at canada.. they have the fastest growing economy, and they always have.. yes, they have harper now, but they still have more liberals and NDP and bloc members in parliament than the conservatives.. thank god. :)
if you want family values, you accept diversity. unlike you republicans who hate immigrants and gays, democrats want to accept diversity, that will allow people to be who they want to be and not hide it.
being a good government is having government services that serve the people of america.
being a good government is having a great education system.. you can't have a good education system without a decent budget.. yet the conservatives approved a bill that would cut the budget by FORTY BILLION... yup, that's real freaking good morals right there.. yup, let's have dropouts everywhere, why don't we?

when you say 'do nothing for hard working families' I'm assuming by your tone and the context of the question that you want more government perks, programs and handouts...would that constitute the 'something' that you want the government to do in your opinion?
Well, here's a tidbit of information for you...and it was addressed earlier...Conservatives (mostly) believe that the government should step out of the way of hard working families and give them the most opportunity without huge tax burdens. They mostly believe in individualism, individual freedom to choose your own profession, your own path in life. They mostly do not believe in just taking from hard-working people with ill-conceived laws and taxes and handing it to non-hard working people. There are a few exceptions of people who actually do need a hand, but there are a lot of people in this country who now seem to believe that the government 'owes them' and will just sit on their butt all day waiting for the next government check while complaining that nobody does anything for them.
Oh BTW, the 'family values' buzzword is just that...most politicians are crooked and cheat on their wives or do underhanded things. But...they know that to many voters, the term family values brings to mind many of the admirable qualities that are taught in families, honesty, integrity..etc. None of which apply to Clinton or many of the other politicians.

Oh david c - now this is really original - plucking propaganda from a 1996 campaign web site - I'm sure that's all the real, unvarnished truth with no exaggeration or misinformation. Get real - you prove over and over again that you have no real intellectual curiosity, you never can do the tough research that will give you unbiased information - you always regurgitate this tired old puke that flies in the face of reality...
Typical liberal stuff here, david c, if you keep puking up the same old stuff over and over again, you and all the other lazy thinking liberals think that it becomes truth - it doesn't - it still all recycled crap, no matter how many times that you try to repeat it...
If Bill the Serial Rapist had one single ounce of dignity, he would have give credit to Ronald Reagan for delivering a huge peace surplus to him, but no, that is not Bill the Serial Rapist's style - anything good that happens, he is right there to put out a poll that suggests that he was behind it... Anything bad that happens, I'm sure we can blame Newt Gingrich...
david c, it's all the same old recycled garbage - and this garbage is 10 years old - it's precisely why liberalism is devoid of any new ideas or bold plans for the future... they can't help looking back and trying to re-write history...
johncondo - let's try to use something called punctuation, and try to put together something called sentences - which are complete thoughts... whatever garbled nonsense came out of your brain got lost in a string of non-stop words...
david c is my hero - he is a very smart boy with lots of education, he is such a great collector of diplomas... he can find all kinds of websites, he is a very good cut and paster... david c is probably a very good driver as well. Someday I have hopes for him being able to put out an independent thought of his own... but as he is a liberal, I am not holding my breath.

While he was President, the US had the biggest tax increase EVER, and it was the MIDDLE CLASS that was hammered by this tax increase. What a GUY!
Using Clinton as an example for family values is like taking Ted Kennedy to an AA meeting.

Because the term "family values" encompasses so many issues such as abortion rights, gay marriage and sometimes immigration.
Meanwhile, their own families are in chaos.
It also amazes me that a man who would want to prolong the suffering of a brain dead woman's family is unwilling to further stem cell research because of ethics.

Family values includes taking care of yourself and family. So looking for the government to take care of you doesn't fall into the "family values" umbrella.
He cut taxes for almost everyone who pays taxes. That helped hard working families take care of themselves.

People like to blow about "values" but what they need are morals--based on God's laws.
Usually, the Presidents' "values" are on a par with those of the general public. (Evil people can't demand good, from other evil people.)

Hard-working families need a lower tax burden and economic conditions where jobs are available and high-paying. They don't need a bevy of government programs.
