Well in the case of Bernie Ebbers, He acquired a company called UUNET then went from there acquiring CLECs as he went along until the acquisition of MCI which made WorldCom a global leader. But the accounting practices that kept the stocks high so he could keep building the pyramid finally eroded the foundation and it went BOOM he was sentenced to 25 years and will probably never see a day of that

I don't understand this question? I work in high tech and see products start from R&D to beta testing to securing funding and clients... If the product takes off you go public or are acquired.... its anybodys game to play globally.
