No it is not dangerous it is a great exercise it would probably be good for a OVERWEIGHT person to go swimming if they wanted to lose weight and don't listen to all the jerks on here saying bad things people do that to make themselves feel better

Why on earth would you say that? One, swimming is one of the best exercises there is. Overweight people SHOULD be swimming. That is like if you see someone WALKING on a sidewalk and they are large.....do you make fun of them? I think that would be mean --- the nice thing would be "at least they're trying to do something about it."
As far as if they are drowning or whatever, a good lifeguard knows how to pull a person drowning out of the water regardless of weight.

Only dangerous to stupid people who ask such banal questions! Of course its not dangerous, only if one has just eaten a meal or had alcohol, just the same rules as skinny people, swimming is the best form of exercise for anyone of any age and any size and you should never discourage anyone from taking sensible exercise

Yes, they DO float, but I would imagine that any physical exercise could be a strain on the heart. Depending on how MUCH overweight they are, it would be hard to get them out of the pool, if something happened to them.

umm why??
how else can we exercise?
swimming is the perfect exercise as the water supports your weight, so it doesnt matter how big you are, or how heavy you are once you get in the water
but saying that if a mass of us got into a small pool the water may get out :)

well i woldnt recommend it, but surely they would lose weight, but without meaning to be rude, wouldnt they find it hard as the weight of the water on them, wouldnt this make them feel heavier in the water.
i dont think id recommend it personally through a safety issue if oyu ask me, they culd have a heart attack etc, no offence intended.

quite the opposite, the water supports teh bulk and ensures they don't strain muscles. Its excellent excercise for the overweight, plus you don't get sweaty!!
