The commercials come on louder to catch your attention, in hopes that you will buy there products. After all if it wasn't for the sponsors we probably wouldn't have TV.

Commercials want to get your attention. They do it with volume.

Extremely annoying, isn't it?! I suppose the sponsors want to be sure their message is heard loud and clear, and the networks/stations comply by having the volume increased...always wondered how exactly they do this! (What's more aggravating is that some people don't adjust the volume on their remote as well -- "Turn it down!!")

Because advertisers expect you to get up and go to the kitchen, bathroom, etc during the commercials...and they want you to hear what they have to sell.

You have noticed that too. Quit TV over three years ago. I still notice the level increase whenever I am in a local.

because most people try to ignore commercials and making them louder gets your attention...wanted or not.
