Are you thinking of a self-publishing company, or a more traditional method?

If you'd like to get a "real" publisher, which I would recommend, you should probably get some critiques of your book and make sure it's as good as it can be. Then get a book like Writer's Market, or the Guide to Literary Agents, and send out your manuscript either to publishers or agents.

Be prepared for a lot of rejections, but when you finally do publish something, they'll actually pay you for it, and it'll be properly promoted - you'll actually be able to find it in a regular bookstore.

If you want to self-publish, try Lulu.com. You have to design every aspect of your book yourself, with them, which might be a little overwhelming if you aren't experienced with any of that, but the good thing is that you don't have to pay for publishing it (though, you obviously have to pay when you order a book - and if you want a ISBN number, that'll be extra as well).

There are lots of other self-publishing companies as well, though most of them charge upfront fees. I'd suggest doing a web search on them, if that's what you want.

Publishing a book is a very difficult process. Each publishing house has slightly different submission policies. Most require a query letter that has to be written a specific way. Each publisher deals with only specific types of books. You need to research all those who deal with the type of book you have written and then send a query letter. You may self publish using lulu.com and then you can get books printed as they are purchased.

Depends on what genre your book is. If it's fantasy or sci-fi, you could try Firebird Books. Another good company is Scholastic, which publishes almost anything for all ages. For a more complete list, go to:
