You have to pay to play with this administration. Follow the money from lobbyists and cronies.

Delusional david c again... like all liberals - never met a tax that he didn't love... the estate tax is the liberals favorite tax... and here's why: It taxes money that has been taxed several times already - they can never get enough of people's money. Think about this david c - and try really hard, push that Barney beanie way down on your little head, close your eyes and think about this:

The estate tax is money from a dead person. They spent their whole lives making it and preserving it and are trying to use it to make lives better for the next generation - they have already paid taxes on all of that money - and paid taxes on it every year with their investments... now when they are dead, david c - you want to take more away from them because you don't think that anyone with more money than you should be able to keep it...

A great man that I know farmed all of his life - he had 7 kids and even bought a dump truck to supplement his income. He had a 80 acre farm - he never got rich, he paid all of his taxes. When he died - his wife had to sell many of her belongings and live in near poverty to pay the taxes on his estate - because the blood sucking government can never have too much... how about that david c - do you have an answer for this? Probably not, because you are too intellectually lazy and dishonest to answer this - why should people have to pay taxes repeatedly on the same money, when they earn - government takes a slice, when they invest it, government gets a chunk again, and then when they die - government wants more. The Estate Tax defines Liberalism - they can never have enough of our money...

Answer this david c, if you have any guts or integrity at all...

I knew it david c - no guts, no facts - nothing to refute this one - you are such a spineless weasel david c... no website to help you out on this one - you have no game david c - which is exactly why you are a liberal...

The federal government should not even have it's hands in education, welfare, housing, etc. and that includes head start.
If someone's rich parents want to leave all their money, which they earned, to their children they should be able to do so without the gov getting their grubby little paws on it. That money was already taxed when earned and it doesn't need to be taxed again. i disagree with the Repubs too. They should have eliminated the estate tax altogether. Jerry is right. This President is not a conservative.
Why do you feel you need to benefit from someone else's hard work. Where are your moral values david c, where are yours!!!!
Mr President gets it and you don't!

The estate tax should be reinstated 100%. I do think that they should adjust the amount of inheritance is immune to match inflation, but without an estate tax, the rich will only get richer, while the poor will still be forced to clean up after them.

The people who complain about farms getting taken from families, or small business, don't actually understand the law at all. If it is applied properly (thus my comment about raising it per inflation) most common people will not be affected. The people that will be affected will be those like Ken Lay's family and most politicians' families. (which happens to be the reason Republicans are trying to have it removed...)

these guys are funny on here, aren't they? Do people relly think that if they didn't give tax breaks to the rich, the rich would stop trying to be rich? If half of the rich people out there DON"T want that tax break, shouldn't we listen to those rich democrats? IT IS IMMORAL. Out of the mouths and brains of our children, our FUTURE, and in to the deepest pockets out there. If the government wants to spend money like there is no tomorrow, and make the poorer people pay for it, then there won't be a tomorrow. You don't want to fund education? I don't want to fund war! How can anyone in their right mind say that funding education is a horrible thing to do? I guess the uneducated feel that way. serfs...

OMG! Inheritance is NOT EARNED, it is inherited!

Yeah, taxes are soooooo bad. Much worse than China owning our as*ses!

Gee, I thought head start was the President's program, that it was working less efficiently than one port-a-potty at diarrhea convention and that everyone ever desiring any association with it should be summarily shot.

As for taxes, you have NO idea how any economic system works. First it is not ZERO sum. Second, stationary assets generate no tax revenue. Third investigate National Debt as a percentage of GDP. A search engine other than Air America's will help considerably.

the moral values do not matter if you dont have a wad in your pocket...not ones hundreds....you cant make it anywhere without a big wad....that is why the tax system is set up so that the person who works three jobs to support their family and have a decent life gets only their child tax credit ($1000) and a percentage of what they paid in ($2200) and no earned income credit...while the person who lived off welfare and worked a couple months gets every single penny the paid into our lovely tax program...oh yeah by the way I am the one who works three jobs and gets back 3200 when I pay in almost 10000 and my sister in law has three kids lives on welfare and works PT in the deli at a local agrocery store and she gets back 7500....she claims three all year long and I claim 0....how is that right.....tax system is all flubbed up...not to say she doesnt need the money but I paid a whole hell of alot into taxes and its not worh it...she makes 16 a year and I made 35 last year and thats what i get for working so hard and not living off the system....

I have noticed a dramatic lack of understanding of the American tax system by people who post questions like this. The tax guidelines are so complex and multi-faceted that the best lawyers in America can barley come together to understand them. Taxes are a problem and there needs to be real discussion on them. But silly questions like this does not advance the national debate at all. Come up with a real question that advances the debate and our general knowledge of the facts of an argument, and we will discuss. But questions like this are truly a waste of computer space.

Why do you worry about what other people have. Get a job and do for yourself instead of spouting off on the computer.

BTW, I don't need a job. I worked hard for 30 years, never made more than $55,000 per year and SAVED enough to retire at 52. Next year I expect to go to Alaska an make it the 50th state I've visited. Life is good when you can rely on yourself.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, render unto God what is God's...

It's not the Goverment's money, there is no moral or social obligation to deed or will a given amount of your estate to the government just because you die. It is immoral and a disgrace for the goverment to put their hand out and expect a windfall from the death of someone who worked perhaps their entire lives to amass a fortune.

It's not your money, you have no right to take it, you have no expectation to recieve it either..

I don't have a trust fund, and probably won't inherit anything when my parents pass. For the idiots who think the government deserves something, why don't they just will everything to the goverment?

So you believe that the State (Government) should profit from your death? The money left to heirs has already been taxed. This is not just the 'rich'. Any small business owner may fall into this tax. Leaving their heirs a business that they cannot afford to run.

Again, social programs are for society(individuals). You are speaking of Government. Why do you insist that Government should do this?
