I absolutely do! I cook, clean, do laundry, and I flat out refuse to let her take out the garbage. It's nasty and stinky.

Now, I don't do all of those exclusively except trash. We take turns. Someone might want to cook something special or a request might be made that the other person cooks better. It depends on who feels like cooking...all the diplomatic stuff.

After 6 years, how are you going to change him? I see that as a major up hill battle.

Is it really fair to leave? I mean you knew this going in. He knew this going in. You'd tell your kids, family, and friends, he wouldn't help me so I left? Hmm. Well, it's not that you need their approval but kids might have a hard time understanding that. On the other end of that...ya might just force him into helping. If he doesn't keep moving.

Good luck.

I hate when people jump to the idea of divorce as a quick solution.
There has to be some way to make him realize that you are working triple overtime with a job, kids and the housework.
I am not married, so I can't really give sound advice in that area, and my bf keeps things fairly nice, at least when I am around!

My husband works full time (55 hours a week). I ask that he take out the trash and help with the laundry (fold the kids clothes or towels). That is all I ask him to do. However, he has always been this way. He was made to help out at home with his mom. I hate to say it, but if it has been going on this long, chances are that it will continue. Did he help out at home with his mom?

you made a rod for own back

have your own work to rule, but tell him first, and why

then STICK TO IT

you could always move to your mom's if the first tactic dunner work, he will come round

real men work in the house, I share everything with my wife

probably most effective is not wash and iron his clothes, say you did not get time bcoz of all other jobs to be done

If you work full time, you are self sufficent and don't need him

my man does some of this. he takes out the trash on a regular basis at least. he washes dishes not often, but sometimes, and he definitely picks up after hisself, otherwise I'd kick him to the curb, I'm not his mother!!

Mine does, Im sorry for you.

You should write up a bill and give it to him.
Put (whatever your name is) Maid Service on it. then when he ask you about it, and wont pay it, tell him you quit. Or, hire a maid and see if that wakes his lazy butt up.

I would bet his mother waited on him hand and foot! Ladies, dont do this to your sons!!!!!! Help them learn how to help out!
