8 years?
My god...
By shacking up and doing everything without being married, you have completely nullified the any significance of having a loving relationship. There is no spark, no excitement...nothing new for him to learn about you. Why marry you now after all this time?
He's obviously not interested in being married...hence not really wanting a committed relationship. Time to move on to someone who is!

is it too late to get married? ask him if he wants to or else you have to move on. 8 years does seem like a long time without the idea of marriage ever coming up though. well if you really don't want to get married then tell him he has to go. but if he's crying maybe he really loves you and he's willing to try but it can only work if you are willing too.

Tell him to leave and get his own place. You dont need to put up with that crap at all.
You seem like a bright woman I am sure if there is any problems a lawyer can always help out.

the majority of my friends are males, and they confide in me with alot of things. he's waking up to you, going to sleep with you, eating with you every single day, thye need space. and believe me if you were around him all day everyday you would feel the same way. if he was doing it before yall moved in together you shouldn't expect it to change that's how relationships mess up cause people think things should be different when you move in or get married but if you start changing then the person that you fell in love with is no longer that person. or you could just talk to him about it.

It sounds like he is just using you. I would tell him either start acting like were together or go move in with your friend.

You've becoming boring to him and he just wanted a home of his 'own'. Talk to him and find out what's going on.

Tell him you need to talk about this. If he can't make time for you then he isn't worth having. Trust me you can do better.
