Exactly! It isn't communism because human nature gets in the way. The ideals of communism are based on the belief that humans can restrain themselves from temptation and do everything for the greater good (based on what Marx and Engels theorized). It is basically taking the ideals of a Utopian society and applying it. North Korea and China may call themselves communist nations, but they are not. A communist nation does not allow a leader to be above his people as far as wealth is concerned. If there is only enough money in the country to feed two people, then the country would rather starve. It is based on equality, but the fact is that it cannot exist. At least, it cannot exist when all people think about is money and how they can crush their enemies. I would personally give up all my money to have an equal society, but I know it will never happen. People are too afraid to let it happen. I agree that America is not a democracy, for we are a republic. I love my nation, but we are not giving a good example to the rest of the world by demonstrating our ignorance.

I'm with you kubrickian, I think people underestimate Communisim, and blow many of its' aspects out of proportion, But its understandable- they've all been brainwashed, by our education system, the Goverment and the fact that The Nazi were communist. Although lead by a man who was indeed trying to take over the world, the system of goverment is one which can become actually quite successful corrections here and there. Even Still Hitler took it to a whole other level, Far from what the original pioneers of communism. If Germany were an alley that didn't have dreams of wiping out the so-called "inferior races" of the world during world war II, and actually focused on the spread of democracy within communisim maybe, just maybe, Americans wouldn't feel so anal about communism thus influencing others t believe the same.

So now we're shunned for supporting features and aspects of communism which isn't very different from what China, N.Korea, and America are doing w/ their citizens...Its all relative but there are still those who refuse to see the light of truth.... Ignorance will forever reign supreme.

~Cheers

Pure communism, while it sounds nice in theory, would never work in practice, for reasons listed above. Of course, throwing the term "morons" around as you do, you'd be smart enough to know that America is NOT a democracy, nor was it ever intended to be. It is, and since the ratification of the Constitution always has been, a republic. Only a moron wouldn't know the difference.

Practically the "ideal" communism has not been practiced anywhere on earth.Though I think that in some countries at the time of its inauguration it was a step forward (for Gods sake Batista the ruler of Cuba before Fidel Castro killed over a million people...)it ended up establishing high-paid worthless casts of politicians and military men who did not give a damn about the people's lifes.
Also there were many people who thought that since under the communist era were getting a free Yugo car ,under capitalism they'd get free BMW which shows their lack of understanding of the so-called "free market"...
The fall of communist regimes (which had absolutely no realtion with the original ideology) was seen from many people (including the one who's writting now) as a fresh start that would end the global-scale conflicts...see what happens nowadays in the middle east and what the united nations have become...

There is no such thing as a pure political system, whether it is communist, socialist, capitalist or any other such nonsense. I should think that most people who are against Communists are for the most part people who were indoctrinated into thinking they were bad, or the "evil empires". When in actuality it is not the idiom that is wrong, but the people who maintain it. Anytime you add people to the mix you automatically inject the layer of corruption inherent in all political systems. Greed is the most common infection, and like a virus it will kill or corrupt all it touches. The only real utopia is the one where humans have become just another failed paradyme and are no longer in the picture. We just can't seem to learn that all road lead to death, and no one is exempt from that final commonality. Life is a zero sum game, no one can be better, just better off. No one can be superior, except in their own delusions, and no one can be more than the human beings all we are.

No, most people don't understand communism as it was laid down by Marx and Engles. They do not understand that true communism is actually quite similar to democracy.

Various people, including Michel More, have had a lot of fun with this. I have seen shows that take passages from the American Consititution and Declaration of Independence and shown them to Americans. It is amazing how many will say, "It sounds like communism to me".

You have been corrupted by the system. No we are not a republic like our forefathers had intended. We are actually much closer to communism. That is the problem with our government today. The corruption that you are complaining about is a result of our government moving closer towards communism. I know that being a flaming communist you have studied your manifesto. If you read the tennants of communism laid out by Karl Marx you will see that we are already almost there.

Probably not. Marxx designed communism to work in an industrialized socity, not agrarian. Interesting why it's never been applied in an industrial socity, and it's never worked. The ultimate goal of communism is utopia. You'd have better luck searching for the fountain of youth or shangra la...

America has never been a democracy...

When you are brought up in communistic country, you have to read communistic manifest and know it by heart. And read all what Marx and Engels wrote and admire other "fantastic" soc-realistic philosophical and artistic achievements. Yes, I know what communism is. And I'm fed up by morons who haven't lived a day in the communistic country or not to mention didn't go through exhilarating adventure of communistic revolution and are so quick to defend not only idea, but also implementation of communism.

Communism doesn't really work. It's simply an idea thats never been put into play because true communism means equal for everyone and that seems to go against our nature.

I laugh when people call libs commies. Means that they really have nothing to say...can't come up with a real argument...and don't know what a communist is.
