As long as they were qualified and could do the job, would you hire them, or would you be concerned about liability and workman's comp?

I would as long as they could do the job and their disability would not keep them from doing the job. people with disabilities should be treated no different than anyone else with the exception of the few things that they physically may not be able to do.

WHY NOT? what is there to be concerned about liability and workmans comp? just because they are disabled doesnt mean they are going to get hurt. they have the same amount of chance getting injured as anyone else. Every workplace has those workmans comp bums that live off of it as long as they can anyways.

Liability and worker's comp will always be issues, regardless of disability.

Yes, I would definitely hire a qualified person with a disability. I may be biased, though, as I used to be married to a quadriplegic and I currently volunteer for a few programs involving children & teens with disabilities. :)

Depending on the business I had, yes, I would. Everyone deserves a chance. And as far as workers comp and liability, that is why businesses carry insurance. Who knows, if you did not hire that person, you may be turning away an excellent employee.

If I was, I would.

At my job, there have been two guys hired who cannot speak but can hear. They both do a very good job, and one of them is even assitant manager even if he can't talk.

If people with disabilities have good skills, why not hire them?

Plus, if you were to not hire someone just because they had a disability, you'd be breaking a law right there.

Lots of employers want to hire disabled workers to show diversity. It's easy for disabled to get work, if they look in the right places, and they have some useful skills.

I'd hire them if they were the best person for the job, no question.

Of course I'd hire them. In fact, I wouldn't work for an employer who wouldn't.

It depends on what the job is, but yeah, I would be fine with it and I wouldn't be too concerned.
