An undergraduate is a student who is working on or has completed a 4-year degree (a Bachelors degree). While a graduate is either someone who has earned their diploma by completing their undergraduate program, OR is a student who is in graduate school, i.e., working on their Masters or Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., etc) degree. If a student has their Highest degree, and is taking additional coursework, that would be classified as "post-graduate" schooling.
Hope this helps.

When you first begin college, you are considered an undergraduate. After you receive your Bachelor's Degree, if you decide to enroll in a Master's program, you will then be considered a Graduate Student.

A graduate finished the whole course and got a diploma. An undergraduate is someone who took up most of the course but still has a few units pending..... or requirements to make him "complete" his degree and get a diploma. Unless if its an associate degree, then that's another story.....

Graduate students are working on advanced degrees such as Masters or PhD. Students working towards a PhD are also called doctoral students or doctoral candidates.
Undergraduate students are working on Bachelor's degrees or Associate's degrees.
A graduate is just someone who has completed their course of study and has a diploma.
