Are you serious? Let us all hope that you do not ever put on weight! Some people, I grant you, are fat because of overeating, but not all. Why should people who are overweight because of medical conditions be punished for being ill? Do you think they enjoy it? Most would give/do anything to be slim and healthy. Sometimes it is a medical condition and sometimes the medication which causes weight gain. As for your air fare, the tickets are sold by the seat, not by the weight. The hold of a plane is designed to carry a certain amount of weight which is divided equally among all passengers.Your overweight baggage means that someone else has to give up some of their weight ration to you, meaning that other people get less room for their luggage. Why should you have more than your fair share without paying extra? A fat person on a plane still only takes one seat, and does not deprive anyone else of one! Maybe in time you will stop being so judgemental of other people and try to be a little more understanding & altruistic. After all, NONE of us (including you, I'm afraid!) are perfect.

That is a very offensive question to ask, I only hope I am next to you on a plane one day, so I can squash you! No seriously, I don't agree with you, I only take up one seat and don't invade the seat next despite being very voluptuous, so pay exactly the same, The airlines work out average weights and sizes to calculate fuel, after all, a very tall woman can be very slim but weigh the same as a short curvaceous one, would you ask the tall people to pay more if rates were increased for large people?

They're attacking the smokers, fat people are next! That's why I went on a diet. If they flew in the baggage compartment, they'd pay more. The reason overweight bags are gharged more is because they haul freight too. More weight takes away available space. Way to be tolerant, btw.

That would be discrimination. Airlines should make all the rows and seats bigger and more comfortable. The airlines place an average weight per person what it is exactly I am not sure, but the weight of your bag shouldn't be an issue you are usually aloud a certain number of bags to check & to carry on so if you exceeded that than yeah you pay get over it.

So should short people pay less? We could save so much space on airplanes if we had less head room.
And why should I pay for your excess baggage? Should anoerexics get a refund? And if I brought my own sandwich, should I pay for an airplain meal? And what happens if I don't watch the tv? Or use the lav - think of the toilet paper the airline could save if we didn't use toilet paper? And of course, ban alcohol - no drunks on flights. Then if we ban Muslims/mad people we could save a fortune on security!

Interestingly enough, one of the Iron Age tribes in Gaul I believe used to fine its young men if a standard belt did not fit round them.
