I wouldn't, especially at night. Maybe if you can see out a window or something and you recognize the person.

If you're a kid, don't open the door. If you're an adult ask who it is through the door. If it's someone you know and trust, open it. If not, say, "Sorry, I'm not having visitors right now." Don't be afraid to be rude.
