I'm tired of running out to buy bags of ice. I put it in the ice container and then my ice maker will start to work and overflow.

I believe that your ice makers control electrical contacts are not working on the ice maker timer.

If you are handy, (unplugged) you can remove the ice maker ( not the bin ) and take the plastic cover off of the timer (where the electrical connections are) and clean the copper/brass contacts with a led pencil eraser ( or something similar). There is some grease that gets burnt or dark and causes it not to work one day and work the next.

If your not so handy, you can call a repair man out or order the whole ice maker Assembly and install it yourself (not so hard).

hope this helps

Check the mechanism that tells the ice maker it is full or empty - sounds like the contact is bad or "bar / wire etc" is bent.

also check filter to make sure it is not clogged and the lien going into the fridge is not kinked - low pressure can cause it to malfunction too and the soft copper tubing kincks eaisly

I once thought my icemaker stopped working but it just wasn't sitting right. It may have something to do with the way the collecion bin is sitting.

Try taking out the collection bin, clean it with warm water, clean the area around the bin inside the freezer with a warn sponge, then place the bin back.

I'm waiting for an answer to this, too. I have an icemaker that goes on the blink and then miraculously heals itself.
