I question whether any war could actually be a "religious war". This war is an economic war. A war over control of land, resources and security. It is about whether or not you can you go about living your life without fear of someone coming in and destroying everything you have worked for. The people on all sides of this conflict need to start working for a future rather than fussing about the past.

In part, it also has to do with their secular history, which can be hard to pull out of their religious history.

50% of the problem or more though is due to the fact that the land Israel now occupies was taken from Palestine by the UN after WW II, without asking. Israel later took even more land in the 7 Days War.

Originally, now its just a war of wills. The Lebanese were already there. Israelis said that the were wandering and told to come there. Where scripturally is that stated, I don't know, therefore it is just whim and inexcusable.
