I've seen it asked here many times before but never gave much thought to answering.

Why do men see prostitutes?

Or

Why do women prostitute themselves?

Having given some thought allow me to indulge myself:

There is a certain honesty that exists between the involved parties. The woman is only interested in and wants the money.....and the man is only interested in and wants the sex. When the transaction is complete everyone goes home.

Many relationships have gone to the altar under the same premise, however the lack of honesty in the relationship caused a failure in the marriage.

Now before you gal's start in on me I ask that you go back and read what I've said. It does in no way mean all marriages. I simply feel that if you read what I say you will agree that it is an honest assessment to the question.

What is your answer to the question?

I placed this question in other categorys as well just to see the differance in participation and the general response attitude. Thanks for participating in our lunch time debate all of your views have valid points and are well taken.

Men and women have been conditioned over the years. Men see women as objects and women get conditioned to think, even subconsciously, that they are objects. Not all women, but when dealing with women who feel the need to prostitute. Or it could just be that they feel they have no where to go and no other means. Or maybe they really like sex, you can be addicted, so why not get paid for what you love to do. Either way, it is all in the mind of the individual and how they percieve their situations.

your premises are certainly true, but they are pointless

men see prostitutes because, as you said, they want sex
woman are prostitutes, because they want money

that is the same reason people rob banks, because they want money

men rape, because they want a certain kind of sex

the question is not why they have the urge, its why they are willing to do it

the answer is, because they judge the value (sex or money) to be worth the consequences

in this, they are both mistaken, the consequences are hard to see, large in their affect on individuals and communities

prostitution is always a mistake for both parties, and is the result of ignorance or weakness

pecker-head? What an interesting name. How is your marriage working for you? If you aren't married, how is your relationship?
If you are single, it would come as no surprise. You have obviously been dumped on by someone, and harbour resentment you need to let go of. Honesty in a relationship, is the core of the relationship. Corrupt the core? You have a rotten apple.

You already answered your question. The woman (or prostitute) wants the money. The man (or client) wants the sex.
