Pan's People were a very tame dance outfit that was used when there was no band or video available. They were followed by Legs & Co, then the supposedly raunchy Hot Gossip, which both featured Sarah Brightman, lately of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals fame! He married her, by the way.

Pans People...
Before video's were commonplace they used to dance around to the latest tunes. If the group could'nt make it to the studio they'd run all this psychedelic video in the background and make up some naff dance routines. Quality stuff.

Pan's People not Pam's. You're thinking of Eastenders.
And we thought they were gorgeous... which of course, they were.

Before the advent of music videos, if an artist couldn't appear, they had dancers instead.
