Alanis Morissette, Corrine Bailey Rae, Vanessa Carlton, Avril Lavigne, Sister Hazel, Kelly Clarkson, Natalie Imbruglia, Krystal Harris, JoJo = girly stuff that sounds similar to The Veronicas.
All in all, your MUST HAVE bands are Lostprophets, The Used, and Alanis Morissette.

I imagine you're already a Taking Back Sunday fan?
If you like the catchy pop-rock type sound, check out Butch Walker, a singer-songwriter out of Atlanta with really smart lyrics and a feel for what rock and roll ought to sound like--kinda post-glam, which might be up your alley since Panic! is on your list.
I'd also say check out The Academy Is... if you haven't already. It's that sort of post-emo that's going to help save music as we know it. Also try Motion City Soundtrack if you haven't already. And Valencia--ah, "The Space Between" is one of the most awesome songs ever.
Teddy Geiger makes me think you'd like Matt Nathanson, who is one of my all-time favorites. Again a singer-songwriter, this time out of San Francisco, with a lot of humor and sensibility in his guitar-driven songs.
And for the FOB fan in you, try out Forgive Durden. Another Fueled By Ramen band, edgy for the label but pretty accessible.
