I believe men should keep their neatly trimmed. But the younger men with longer hair, that is OK. I believe it is decided more as a fashion statement.

Actually it depends on the man. If he is short, fat and dumpy, definately short hair. Long hair would make him look more like a bum.
Now, on you, long shoulder length would look good, but a short professional look would also look good.
It actually depends on the way it looks on you. Some people just cant wear long hair.
