No way! Cano is going to be a really great baseball player as he gets more experience in the majors.

They are both great players, Utley and Cano. They both kind of contradict each other with their goods and bads. However, what the Yankees need right now is a player like Cano so they should keep him and Utley doesn't need a change of scenery (26 game hit-streak). Also, Cano provides Yankees fans with the new face of the Yankees in the future, as Utley gives the Phillies some hope for better seasons in the coming years.

By the numbers:
Chase Utley: 28 years old, career .290 batting average, .513 slugging percentage, 62 home runs and 247 RBI.
Robinson Cano: 24 years old, .306 batting average, .451 slugging, 18 home runs and 89 RBI.
At only 24, Cano's numbers could be better if future projections are done. I can't see the Yankees giving up youth for comparable talent. That is what they used to do in the not so distant past, and they are learning the hazards of doing that. Cashman is smart in finally realizing the importance of the younger players. I can't see the Yankees making this deal. In fact, this is the first rumor that I've heard of such a proposition.

Is this a joke? Canó isn't going anywhere. He's a home-grown Yankee, as were Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada. It's players like him, Phillips, Cabrera and Wang that add excitement to the ball club and provide familiar faces for the fans.
In addition, it makes absolutely no sense to trade an All-Star sophomore second baseman in contention for rookie of the year last year. He's one of the best road hitters on the team and turns the double play better than most in the league. I have nothing against Utley, but both players would be better off staying put.

this would make virtually no sense for the phillies...I don't care if it "saves money". Robinson Cano is a utility player down the road...once his team realizes that he isn't that good. Cano has no plate discipline...and it's not the jeff francoeur-type where he will learn with experience...this guy led the league in least pitches seen per at bat with like 3.2. He ccan only start if he hits 8th or 9th, and in the NL the pitcher hits 9th leaving the 8th spot as the only place he could/should hit. Now if the trade was cano, and philip hughes for utley thats a different story, but even still with gio gonzalez, gavin floyd, cole hamels, and daniel haigwood the phillies have great young pitching---and of course brett myers and ryan madson who are still in their mid 20's--wow if they got hughes and cano that would mean great things for the phillies future---but hughes better be added. And if hughes isn't an option..the phillies should ask for matt smith, tj beam and cano to give them bullpen help to at least salavage something from the trade.

Although the Yankees seem to have endless financial resources from which to draw, it amuses me that Yankee fans think they can/should acquire every good player in the Majors that isn't on the Yankee roster. While you're making crazy suggestions, why don't you trade Shawn Chacon for Roy Halladay? It would save the Blue Jays some money and it would help the Yankees because Halladay is the best pitcher in the AL...

would not remember their settlement status, you do not favor to make this deal. the purely great factor about this can properly be that you're out of rivalry on your league and also you're searching at contracts for next twelve months. Rizzo's numbers might want to challeng Cano next twelve months and his value might want to be extremely a lot less. the purely situation with that's that 1b are a dime a dozen lately and 2b are a uncommon commodity. i ought to nevertheless carry my floor when you're nevertheless contained in the race. best of success.

what's the point? it's not really an upgrade. Cano is young and has a bright future, so does Utley, but why fix what's not broken?

It would make no sense, they play the same position and both teams are happy with what each player is doing for their franchise. Its like trading Francisco Liriano for Jered Weaver it would never happen.
