Green bowel movements are sometimes the sign of a virus, but that would be for a week or so. It can sometimes be the sign of getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk at each breastfeeding. You could try nursing on one breast exclusively at each feeding to see if that helps, but if baby is otherwise doing well, you can ignore it, especially since he is 4 months old. There are probably other possible causes, but those are the 2 common ones I am aware of.

Green stools can never be considered normal. Have baby checked by his pedestrian immediately. It could be something as simple as peas in his diet but taking chances like that are not worth the risk. Let a physician be the one to put your concerns to rest and not Yahoo answers.

Are you feeding him something different? Like adding cereal to his formula or have you started feeding him solids yet? These things can sometimes contribute to a change in stool colors. Take him to the doc's to have him checked out, but if he's got no other complaints (no expression of discomfort, for example) then it's probably nothing to be concerned with.

Did you give your son any medication? or is he on any medication? or is he taking any health supplements?
Some medication or health supplement may stained stool green and its okay to be this way.
However, if thats not the case then there might be due to the dietary problem, the food that he consumed everyday.
I strongly suggest that you bring him to see a doctor. He is just 4 months, whenever unfavourable symptoms or conditions that occur on him, the best thing is to consult doctor to avoid complications

If your child is drinking formula with iron or breastfeeding from a mother who is taking an iron supplement, their stool will most likely be dark green in color.

If u r only breast feeding him any colour is normal. Otherwise it is a symptom of problem in stomach like ache etc.
It also goes green when the baby is teething

What is his diet like? Breastfed or formula fed? Any solids or juices or anything?
In a breastfed baby, green FROTHY stools could be a sign of a hindmilk imbalance. (See link below.)
It could also be related to foods you are eating if you are breastfeeding (see green poop link) or other supplemental foods the baby is eating (solids?).

Normally it goes away in 2 months after birth. BUt at 4 months, list down everything he eats/ drinks and tell your pedia about it.

It's perfectly okay. You've probably started a little bit of solid foods and cereal, so that could do it. The don't stonly thing you really have to worry about colorwise is white, solid black, or bloody poop. I would still say to mention it to your pediatrician, but don't worry too much.
